She also describes the police response , the heroism of her officers who were shot , and how their training kicked in in pursuit of the killer . She then describes the aftermath of dealing with her officers and their families as well as the families of the deceased workers in the plant . He is a retired Haddon Heights ( Camden County , NJ ) Police Officer who was shot during the service of a search warrant . During this incident Richard ’ s younger brother , also a Haddon Heights Police Officer and his friend , an investigator with the Camden County Prosecutor ’ s Office were also shot & killed . Richard was wounded five times and was on life support for four days . Richard will discuss the events that changed his life forever . He will discuss the ways he prepared himself to survive : mindset , training , and physical fitness . Richard ’ s mission is to take his experiences and teach other officers some basic , instinctive survival skills .
