"Would you two clowns knock it off? Y'all given me a
headache." Minnie snapped, making a show of massaging her
temples.
"I've got the perfect remedy." Charlie replied. Taking a flask
out of his inner pocket, he took a big swig before passing the flask
to Minnie. "But," Louise looked over shoulder as if people were
watching in the shadows, "we aren't supposed to drink. What if we
get caught?"
"Aww, don't you worry Miss Louise. Ain't no cop gonna catch
us, no sir, I'll just out run'em." Lawrence replied, putting his foot on
the gas for emphasis and almost sending me through the windshield.
"God Lawrence, give a girl a warning, why dontcha? You
almost put me through the windshield." I scolded.
"Sorry ma'am, next time I'll give ya a warning," Lawrence said,
flashing me a smile.
I just sat back and watched the conversation flow as Charlie
explained where we were going once we hit New York City.
Apparently there was some club down in Harlem that had some
stellar jazz. I felt the note in my pocket which reminded me of the
necklace that I still haven't put on. I nudged Minnie
"Hey, do you think you could-" I indicated the necklace.
She nodded in agreement and as she put the necklace on, I took out the
note and it said:
