Ballad of Lonely Nights

The flowers dance around the field,

The stars are singing songs,

The wind is whistling soothing tunes,

As I just walk along.

The frigid air is cool to touch,

The moon is full and bright,

The grass is wet with sparkling dew,

While I'm alone tonight.

This magic scene is moving past

The way a dream would flow.

The stage is set, the lights are up,

But I can't love the show.

The city lights are blinding me,

The turns are right and wrong,

The noises all melt together,

As crowds move me along.

The buildings tower past the moon,

The neon blocks it's light.

The city streets are full of life,

I'm still alone tonight.

This place has many new wonders,

The vices and silent moans,

The many flavors people take,

But I don't feel at home.

No calm in peace, no love in crowds.

Not hard to know what's gone,

The time I'm spending loving you

Makes time without you wrong.

Now whether I'm detached or bound,

If I'm blind or can see,

I'll always be alone the nights

You're not lying by me.
