Rainy Days
There is something about summer days when it’s raining.
Warm air swarms around you
While cool rain ends its journey on your skin.
The exciting part is going without shoes.
Feet finally set free to feel drops of green grass
And the moist grains of earth as toes move.
Spinning arms, stretched wide, move away from the masses
Who are running towards their shelter.
They will wait under roof until the rain passes.
Why would they rather be inside and sweltering
When they could enjoy the refreshing rewards
Of a break from the humid heat that could make you melt.
I could stay in the rain all day and never get bored,
And when it stops I’ll shout to the sky “Send down some more!”
