Through Your Eyes

I wish I could see the world through your eyes

Where everything is brand new and exciting

Curiosity shines in your wake

And countless questions burst from your eager lips

The world to you is a magical place

Filled only with laughter and love

Hugs and kisses

Sorrow and suffering are unknown to you

In your naïve world

They do not yet exist

Day after day you live your routine life

But you never get bored or cynical

Each day is a new discovery

An adventure

Where fear doesn’t hinder your progress

And when the night arrives

Bringing your day to a close

You drift off to sleep

Only knowing the comfort and safety

Found in strong arms and soft blankets

For bad memories and regrets

Never haunt your dreams

Oh, how I wish I could remember

What it was like

To see the world the way you do

Through your eyes
