A One Way Train
Here’s my ticket.
Don’t look back
Because this is a one way train on a one way track.
Last boarding call
Last chance to go.
To say or not to say.
In a split second I go
With my bags packed to burst.
Time to start putting me first.
Here’s my ticket.
Don’t look back.
To the what ifs and if I’s
Keep moving forward.
I’ll be just fine.
There are others too.
On this one way train on a one way track.
Ladden with bags.
I smile and they return it.
Their smiles are warm
But their eyes have traces of pain.
Scars left over from the battles of a life alone.
I know that when they look into my eyes they see the same.
As I board this one way train on this one way track.
I take a seat by the window.
Prepared to look forward.
Never back.
