FTC Robotics Competition

Heybot, the 8th grade robotics team

As you might remember from my last article, Heybot's first robotics competition was four months ago. Last month we had our second robotics competition.

Groups from all over the country came to compete. We arrived there and put down our equipment. Then we looked at other groups' robots. After a while we started to compete.

Our first rounds were pretty bad. The robot and the equipment didn’t work and we had a lot of trouble using it. Then we solved our problems by turning everything off and checking everything. Then we had some good rounds.

The competition was nice. We met a lot of nice students around our age. It was interesting. We saw a lot of new things – like the system itself. We learned a lot about operating systems and robotics. We were together and had so much fun.

Our final rounds were with a group from Handasaim High School in Hertzelia. We were very good and people loved us. We succeeded pretty well for students our age that are new in this. We did big and amazing things by getting to this achievement.

In the competition we got to second place in the whole country. We won two prizes. One is the Judges' Award - an award that we got from the judges - probably they liked us (; We got a second award - the Finalists' Award because we and our last opponents were the only ones that got to the final rounds among the best groups of the competition.

Sooo! The competition was fun and awesome, we enjoyed ourselves a lot.
