People's Choice Award

Last week was the “PCAs”, the people’s choice awards 2016. The award is given in many categories. The difference between this award and others is that the fans have the abilty to vote and to choose their favorites, when in other awards the “power” is in the academy’s hands. This year was the 42nd year that the award is given, the host this time was Jane Lynch (Sue from Glee). This is more important and meaningful than other awards. The award show's creator was Bob Stivers, who produced the first show in 1975. The first awards included 14 categories, such as Favorite Motion Picture, Favorite Television Performer and more, all honoring the best in  popular culture  for 1974.

In 1977, the third People's Choice Awards attracted 35.3 million viewers!

Since the 31st People's Choice Awards (on January 9, 2005) the winners are selected by online voting rather than Gallup polls.
