On June 1st, 2013 the 20th annual Komen Connecticut Road Race for the cure took place. Connecticut has the second highest incidence of breast cancer in the United States, and it is estimated that more than 3,000 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in the state this year. Every person that goes and donates is helping to save the lives of current and future cancer patients. Imagine having cancer, but not being able to afford treatment. This financial aspect of the disease is just as painful as the experience. By donating to this event you can help cancer patients in Connecticut afford their treatment. Cancer is a horrible disease that needs recognition! The cure for cancer may never be found if cancer is not recognized as the horrible disease it is. More than 1,500 people die of cancer everyday in the United States, and without raising awareness, cancer will continue to take lives everyday. One of the best ways to stay active in a community such as this is to give all your love and support to organizations such as this and also to their cancer patients. Join other local residents to raise funds and awareness for the fight against breast cancer, celebrate breast cancer survivors and honor those who have lost their battle with the disease. Donations are accepted year round, and even if you can’t give your money, give some of your time and most importantly your love!
