The Havanese, otherwise known as the Cuban dog, is the national dog of Cuba. Hence the name. Havaneses were bred for Cuban aristocrats and was introduced to the United States when wealthy Cubans fled Cuba during the Cuban revolution in the 1970s.

Havaneses come in a variety of colors, however, they always have white markings on them. Some, like the Havanese pictured in the cover, are fully white.

WHO is the cover Girl?

This lovely, pure white Havanese is known as Lola. She's a five year-old puppy, according to her family. Her mom, Dee says, "She's as spoiled and playful as can be," when asked about her adorable puppy.

We asked why she decided to buy a Havanese and here is what Dee had to say:

"At the time, we wanted something that was good with kids and wouldn't shed. Lola fit that perfectly, so, I contacted a breeder and about nine weeks later."

Her daughter, Kristen, described Lola as basically another member of their family and they treat her as such. She gets spoiled daily with belly rubs, treats, and endless amounts of playtime and praise.
