bradenton This year’s Paws in Motion, the sixth annual fundraising event, benefiting the Humane Society of Manatee County, was held in a new venue. Judging by the turnout and the end results (a total of $53,000 was raised), everyone had a good time. The Doggie Fun Zone, fresh off its Bark in the Park gig for the Humane Society of Tampa Bay the weekend before, was in full swing. (Left): After Fernanda adopted Doshi as a puppy several years ago, the first thing she did was call home.When she told her family that the shelter said Doshi was a Rottwieller mix, Fernanda’s mother told her she would have to return the puppy. “Do you know how big that puppy is going to be?” asked her mother. But, Fernanda had already bonded with Doshi, so she prayed that the dog would not grow too large. It looks as if Fernanda’s prayers were answered. Doshi, full grown, is a compact Rotti mix, full of energy. Gabby was adopted from a shelter in Miami nine years ago. Gabby looks like a cross between a Briard, and a Berger Picard, the dog in the movie, Because of WinnDixie. “We just call her our Disney dog,” said her human. www.TheNewBarker.com 84 THE NEW BARKER
