Meet the Breeds – Ten-year-old Shannon charmed us with her wit and knowledge of Beagles. She is holding Gabe, a 15” Beagle who enjoyed howling at passersby. “Give him a break,” said Shannon. “He’s a hound dog.”

here was something for every dog lover during the 12th Annual AKC Eukanuba National Championship in Orlando this past December. Meet the Breeds, with rows and rows of more than 150 different dog breeds represented. DockDogs, set up by the Florida affiliate, Suncoast DockDogs, had dogs demonstrating their extreme dock diving talents. Eukanuba Extreme Soccer Dogs played soccer with kids in the audience. Dogs from all over the United States and 50 other countries competed for
$225,000 in cash and prizes, all under one roof. The event, themed Celebrate Dogs, occupied 800,000 square feet of event space at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando. In addition to the AKC/Eukanuba National Championship, competitions included the Eukanuba World Challenge, the AKC Agility Invitational, the AKC National Juniors Agility Competition, the AKC National Obedience Invitational, the AKC National Juniors Obedience Competition, and the AKC Junior Showmanship Finals.
