The fi rst historical marker was installed on March 3, 1957, on the west side of the 500 block of Castro Street, marking the cemetery grounds given by Maria Trinidad Peralta de Castro to the Cumberland Presbyterian Church as a “burying ground for all religions.” The former cemetery is now Sunday 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Pioneer Park. When the park was built, unclaimed remains were reburied on-site. MVHA S PRING E VENT & M EETING Our original marker was eventually relocated to the park’s Church Street edge.
