The ceremony included a special tribute to the 100th anniversary of the end of World War I. MVHA President Nick Perry gave a short speech about what Mountain View was like during World War I, noting that the town had a population of about 1,000 people with 130 serving in the war. He also shared the history of the Veterans Memorial location at the former site of Mountain View Union High School. The MVHA has been working on a new interpretive sign describing the meaning of the memorial and the history of Eagle Park will be added to the memorial. A mock-up of the sign was unveiled at the ceremony and a permanent sign will be installed in 2019. 4
