Barbara Kinchen
Plaque Dedication
Wallace Erichsen shares memories of Barbara Kinchen
with family and friends gathered for the plaque dedication.
The bronze plaque (designed by MVHA Vice
President Nick Perry) features a portrait of
Barbara and a circa 1876 map of Mtn. View.
On June 29, 2017 the MVHA hosted a small gathering at
the Mountain View Public Library to dedicate a plaque in
honor of our first official City Historian, the late Barbara
McPheeters Kinchen. The celebration took place on Barbara
and her twin sister Betty’s birthday. We were very honored
to be joined by Betty and multiple generations of their family
as well as many of Barbara’s friends, past and present MVHA
Board Members, and local leaders like Mayor Lenny Siegel
and Council Member Margaret Abe-Koga. A special thanks to
long-time MVHA member Wallace Erichsen for initiating and
donating funds for this special tribute to Barbara. The plaque
will be installed in the Mountain View History Center.
