The Mountain View Historical Association invites
our members and guests to join us for our annual
Summer BBQ and Membership Meeting! The BBQ will
take place at the historic Adobe Building on Sunday,
August 28 from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m.
The menu will once again feature our version of the
famous “Parisian Burger” served at Mountain View’s
beloved Linda’s Drive-In (1956–1985). And yes, “super
fries” will be served too.
In addition to getting a tasty bite of Mountain View
history, this year’s BBQ will also feature a special
screening of the new documentary film, The Legacy
of Arrow Development. The film chronicles the
fascinating history of Arrow Development, a Mountain
View company famous for building Disneyland’s earliest
rides and designing the world’s first modern looping
roller coaster.
Those who attended last year’s BBQ may remember
that portions of the documentary were actually filmed
during the event, when the filmmakers interviewed
our guest speaker, former Disney Imagineer Bob Gurr.
We are excited to welcome back the film’s creators
to introduce their documentary, and we look forward
to sharing this unique piece of Mountain View history
with you all. Due to seating capacity, inside seating for
the film-screening
is not guaranteed,
so be sure to arrive
early if you want to
see the film!
