MVHA Fall Meeting

ABOUT THE MEETING
On October 20, 1958, the Mountain View Public Library moved from a
temporary location on Dana Street to a brand-new building at 585 Franklin
Street, next to the abandoned Mountain View Cemetery. Sixty years have
passed since then and much has changed! But the library remains an
essential hub of community life. Our next membership meeting on Sunday,
November 4, will find us (temporarily) leaving the historic Adobe Building
and instead gathering in the newly renovated Community Room of the
library. To complement the change in location and celebrate the library’s
60th anniversary on Franklin Street, outgoing MVHA President Candace
Bowers will share a slideshow talk on the library’s rich 113+ years of
history. We hope you’ll join us for what is sure to be a fascinating talk.
SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 4, 2018
2:00-4:00 P.M.
BOARD ELECTIONS
The meeting will also serve as our biennial Board of Directors election and members are highly
encouraged to attend to vote! More details on the election can be found on page 6 of the
newsletter.
DIA DE LOS MUERTOS
Although we are taking a break from hosting our big Dia
de los Muertos celebration at the Adobe Building, we are
still celebrating the Day of the Dead tradition with our
Mountain View–themed “ofrenda” (altar) at the Mountain
View History Center. Check it out next time you’re at the
library, or before or after our November meeting!
