MT N . V I E W HOSTED BY: MOUNTAIN VIEW HISTORIC AL A S S O C I AT I O N FEATURING: In Mexico the first two days of November are celebrated as Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead). During this special time of year, families and friends gather to remember those who have passed away. The celebration has ancient roots, stretching back to the time of the Aztecs. In the United States, Dia de los Muertos has become increasingly popular with people of many cultural backgrounds. On Sunday, November 5 the Mtn. View Historical Association invites you to join us for our second annual Mountain View Dia de los Muertos celebration. This event will take place at the historic Adobe Building and will feature a short presentation on the history of Mountain View’s only cemetery, traditional dances by Raices de Mexico and a live performance by Northern California’s premier mariachi band, Mariachi Tapatio, of San Jose! Tickets are free for all MVHA members. A $5 donation is suggested (but not required) for guests and non-members. Capacity is limited in the Adobe Building and last year’s event sold out, so be sure to secure your tickets today by visiting: http://mvhistory.eventbrite.com/ or calling (650) 903-6890. Attendees are invited to participate by sharing photos of their ancestors to be included in a special Mtn. View-themed Dia de los Muertos altar. Drop photos off at the Library c/o Candace Bowers any time before November 1. RSVP BY VISITING WWW.MVHISTORY.EVENTBRITE.COM 6
