REMEMBER ME???

A look back at a horse from the past who was so tough

VIKING FLAGSHIP

As the Cheltenham festival is still fresh in our minds we look back at a horse who summed up National Hunt racing, Viking Flagship.

The early 90s seemed to have a host of stars, but this fellow was exceptional especially over fences, where his record over the larger obstacles was quite amazing, 39 starts 19 wins, 9 seconds and 5 thirds. Of those wins he took two Queen Mother Champion Chases, two Melling Chases, a TIngle Creek, Castleford Chase, Haldon Cup and a VIctor Chandler Chase

He was trained by "The Duke" David Nicholson and was ridden to victory by Adrian Maguire, Richard Johnson, Richard Dunwoody, AP McCoy, Charlie Swan and Peter Scudamore plus others..

A true great of National Hunt Racing and a pleasure to watch.
