July President’s Letter

It’s no secret I love events. Not far below my surface is the kid sitting in front of her first laptop, amazed that the characters on screen are other people. I still get a kick out of playing with other people (see screenshot of recent Treehouse Meeting.) Events bring out the huge crowds and the server lag and I love every fps murdering minute of it.

Three years ago The Secret World launched. I played the beta and was eager to try the game. House guests (Omouse) made me miss the very first days of early access. However, the moment I sent Omouse on the road, I was creating a character, the short lived Foxglover. Beecher was actually created when inspiration struck me on July 7, 2012, after equipping a blood tome and a shotgun.

What I knew at launch was I completely enjoyed the story heavy atmosphere of the game: New England in the autumn, the mist, and zombies. Yes, please. The first time I realized I could move in combat made me giggle like a maniac. While working on Something Wicked, the mission from Norma, when I realized what I had to do to talk to a ghost...Oh my goodness. I was hooked. I knew I would play for at least a year, so getting the lifetime sub made sense.

What I did not know was that I was three months away from finding a great group of people in LoMS. I did not know how rich the community was, how engaging, how helpful and how down right fun. I’ve logged on nearly every day for three years and I’m still having fun.

Love or loathe events, I’m glad we get to mark another year of a fantastic community with golems and massive lag.

Happy anniversary, Slayers!
