Bunny Slippers – Origin

Author: Avenal

They Hunger

It is them again, calling to me. Soft whispering in the shadow, full of longing, desire and loathing. I hear and it is always the same, "We hunger, come to us. Release us from the darkness". I have no choice but to obey. I feel the hatred radiating from them, like the churning furnaces of hell. It grips my heart and squeezes until it is in time with my own pulse. For, at that moment, I know that their rage is mine as well.

They whisper again and again. "Slip inside and let us become one, we need the blood, the carnage and the carrots, especially the carrots." I can not deny my pink bunny slippers, for we are one and the monsters are many. Together we venture forward into that dark void, pink fuzzy ears pointed towards the future, towards our destiny.

The League of Monster Slayers need you to push back the darkness. If not for humanity, then for the Pink Bunny Slippers. PM us in game, post-haste.

That is just one of BooGirl’s poems about the slippers. I see the question in global chat from time to time: “what is with the bunny slippers?” To find the answer to this question you must go back in time and read the original recruitment post in the official forums (Link). Among the expectations for joining LoMS was; “Common courtesy. You are a team player. You enjoy “the company”. Sense of humor. Pink Bunny Slippers”.

The League of Monster Slayers has had an unofficial uniform from the beginning, a uniform that has evolved over time. Originally, it was just the pink bunny slippers, but; even those were merely a suggestion. The Monster Hunter jacket, with “Killing Machine” on the back, became popular early on. It only made sense - we were in the business of slaying monsters. The jacket in question can be obtained by slaying all of the rare monsters in the game, no small feat. This takes time, patience, luck and a little help from fellow Slayers.

When I first got my jacket, there was a mob you had to kill that wasn’t on the list, Father Applebee. I remember putting down the last monster on my list, boasted about it in chat, received congratulations from my fellow Slayers… but… no jacket..what? The LoMS crew, as knowledgeable then as they are now, immediately whisked me away to Kingsmouth where we found Applebee, and within minutes I had my jacket.

There is some debate over the next part of the uniform, the Fez. I’m not entirely sure where and how this came about. I think it is just about it being a silly hat. Beecher seems to know more about the how and why than I do - ask her about it sometime; I don’t even own one. As with almost everything in LoMS, this uniform is not a requirement, it is just a way for us to feel like a team. If you ever run into my toon in game, you will almost always see me in bunny slippers; the jacket I wear to official functions. The style and creativity of clothing in TSW is one of the things that makes the game so unique. Feel free to express yourself however you want, but make no mistake - you are all KILLING MACHINES!
