Potential Failure The P – F interval is commonly used to describe the time between when a fault is detectable ( i . e ., the failure may potentially occur ) and when the asset will functionally fail . If the P – F interval can be estimated for the major failure modes , it will be possible to establish the appropriate condition monitoring test interval .
