Story and Mission
NAMI Mobile is the local chapter of the National Alliance on Mental Illness and was established in 1987 . NAMI ’ s mission is to provide advocacy , education , support , public awareness and hope to individuals and families affected by mental illness . NAMI members understand the challenges of living with a serious mental illness or having a loved one who does and from our experience , offer HELP and HOPE .
NAMI Education and Support Programs help both individuals living with a mental illness as well as their family members . NAMI Mobile is completely volunteer-run and our programs are provided at no cost .
Our annual fundraiser - NAMIWalks Mobile - supports our local NAMI Care Fund , which provides needed dental , medical , and other help to those in our community living with a serious mental illness . Last year , we awarded nearly $ 40,000 in aid .
The 2022 NAMIWalks Mobile will be held Saturday , April 23rd at Medal of Honor Park . This is a fun family event with music , food and activities for the kids ! You can register through the NAMIWalks website . To sponsor , volunteer or donate please contact Walk Manager , Susan Nelson Pickard , at wmnamiwalks @ gmail . com .
