Story and Mission
The Family Counseling Center of Mobile , Inc ( dba Lifelines Counseling Services ), founded in 1958 , envisions building stronger individuals and families for a healthier community . Our mission is to help individuals and families live healthier lives through counseling , assistance , referrals and education . We value the diversity of our community members by delivering expert , innovative approaches to life ’ s challenges within the context of each person ’ s experience .
At LCS , our goal is to see our community thrive . We offer solutions for obstacles encountered in daily living . We have entry points for community members struggling with crisis and in need of immediate assistance ; community members needing to maintain daily living ; and community members needing to build on their current skills to thrive . We are the community expert in helping community members deal with trauma and abuse across the spectrum from toddler to senior ; teens and adults struggling with anger management issues ; individuals and families successfully manage their finances and attain the American Dream of owning a home and contributing to our community ; and providing prevention education programs , workshops and resources for community members in southwest Alabama . Through crisis , emotional and financial counseling and education , we build strong , healthy families ( family resiliency ); parent successful children , teens and young adults ; cope with stressors of daily living in each stage of life ; and support our seniors .

• $ 40 will allow a child experiencing divorce or loss , 4 sessions of counseling
• $ 50 will pay for a much needed school presentation on healthy relationships , bullying , rape reduction and prevention , and suicide prevention and intervention
• $ 300 helps one sexual assault victim to receive 4 counseling sessions and transportation to and from the hospital
• $ 55 / hr will help to prevent a family from going into foreclosure
• $ 200 will provide 4 sessions of counseling to a family suffering through marital difficulties , concerns with children , depression , and other issues .
• $ 250 is the value of ONE 12-hr shift of volunteer hours given back to the community within our 24 / 7 on-call sexual assault victim advocate Volunteer : Make a difference in your community and in the lives of others . Lifelines has volunteer opportunities available for those who are interested . In-Kind Donations : Do you have any gently used items with no more use to you ? The Partnership will take those items and give them to clients in need .
