Fall 2019

A Legacy of Literacy is the theme we chose for this issue of The Missouri Reader. Not only do we honor Dr. Linda Dorn, a much respected and beloved literacy leader, but share other articles that point us in the direction she would want us to go as we prepare our students to be literate, life-long learners. Stephanie Affinito shows us how to harness technology for student engagement while Charline Barnes Rowland helps us to engage ALL students as we remember and honor the Brown Legacy. Jennifer Aliteri shares how help our youngest students to use ALL the text to comprehend. And there is more – vocabulary, student conversation, and scaffolding!

The Missouri Reader is a peer reviewed journal, so we bring our readers the best of the best…articles that are accepted for their quality of writing and research and interest to our readers. As The Missouri Reader has grown in readership, we receive many quality articles, so choosing those for publication is a difficult task

Please thank the Editorial Board (previous page) for their expertise and dedication to literacy. We appreciate the hours they volunteer to help make The Missouri Reader a quality journal for you. If you would like to become a member of the Editorial Board or contribute an article to The Missouri Reader, please contact Glenda Nugent at [email protected].
