Antebellum Houses
Natchez City contains some of the most well preserved antebellum houses from the mid 1700's to early 1900's. Some of these houses are even availible for touring. Walking through the neighborhoods in Natchez, it felt like I had been taken back in time to the early 1900's. These magestic, and luxurious houses mesmerized me. There are over 1,000 antebellum houses in Natchez, many of which are kept as historical landmarks.
The antebellum house in the upcoming photo is called the Linden. It was originally owned by Alexander Moore in 1785, and then bought by Thomas Buck Reed who made his mark on the house by adding the stunning frontispiece to the doorway (that is said to be the inspiration for the front door of Tara in Gone With the Wind). It is currently called Linden Bed & Breakfast, which allows visitors to come and experience the beauty of antebellum houses.
Built in 1769, King's Tavern is said to be the oldest standing structure in Narchez. It has an olden brick style with multiple floors and fireplaces. The building is decorated with wooden furniture, and old portraits. Below are some photographs of the interior of this bulding.
