A Spiritual Matter
What happens when you fall in love with Jesus? How do
you fall in love with Jesus? You fall in love with Jesus by
spending time with Him. We spend time with Jesus, we
fall in love with Him; we fall in love with Him, we become
more like Him. We become more like Him and then we
have the energy to give to our spouses and/or our families
and even to love and accept ourselves. And if you are
single, you become the person God made you to be. When
you fall in love with Jesus, it is a day by day dependence
on the Holy Spirit; a day by day clinging to Jesus.
How to fall in love with Jesus:
1.
2.
3.
4.
5.
6.
7.
Get still. Sit before Him to communicate with Him. Read Psalm 46:10; Revelation
3:20; Habakkuk 2:20
Draw near His heart. Read James 4:8; Psalm 42:1-2; Isaiah 55:1-3, 6; Psalm 73:28.
Write a response to Him.
Seek His face. Read Matthew 7:7-8; Psalm 27:4,8; Psalm 63:1-8; Hebrews 11:6;
Jeremiah 29:11-14. Write a response to Him.
Spend time in His presence. Read Exodus 33:14-15; Psalm 16:11.
Spend time knowing Him better. You cannot love someone you do not know. Let Him
teach you who He is through His names and attributes. Each one reveals something
about Him. Encounter Him in His Word. Tell Jesus that knowing Him is the most
important thing in all the world to you. Write a response of adoration or sing Him a
song.
Tell Him all those things that you ware willing to count as nothing compared with
knowing Him and seeing His glory (Philippians 3:7-8): your ministry, your
reputation, your personal strengths, your intellect, your pride, your self sufficiency,
your will, your ambition, your relationships, your job, your sins, your failures, etc.
Say, I give it all. I will not sacrifice to the Lord my God burnt offerings that cost me
nothing (1 Chronicles 21:23; 2 Samuel 2424). Give all that you know, and then open
yourself up for God to show you new “all’s.” Write a response of surrender and
commitment.
Be overwhelmed with the awesome Person speaking to you. “I have loved you with an
everlasting love; I have drawn you with loving-kindness” (Jeremiah 31:3). Receive
His unfailing love. Let the Father hug you and pour His love into your heart by His
Spirit.
Jesus wrote down his entire life story for us, a love letter thousands of pages long - just so we
would know Him and fall in love with Him. He fell in love with us before first sight. And He’s
stopped at nothing – not even death – to show us how much He wants us.
He's waiting for us to start falling in love back.
