PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE
Dear Colleagues,
Spring has sprung across this great country of ours! With it brings renewed hope for
better times to come and for many of us, those pesky seasonal allergies. Having said
that I am sure we are all excited about the arrival of the summer season. It has been a
busy year so far for the Academy. We face many challenges: re-writing the sedation
guidelines across the country, equitable funding for government supported dental
programs, etc. A couple of new initiatives we are working on include: the development
of a simple caries risk assessment tool for non-dental allied health workers, expanding
our global presence by working with the IAPD, and organizing a joint meeting with the
AAPD in 2021 in Montreal.
I know you will agree that the key to any organization’s success is the perceived value the members receive from
membership in the organization. The hard work of our members that volunteer their precious time to the Academy
keeps us strong. Through our representation on CDSA (Canadian Dental Specialties Association), CPS Oral Health
Section, RCDC, AAPD, and government, we stay relevant and maintain our national voic
