CDA AWARD OF MERIT
The Award of Merit recognizes an individual who has served in an outstanding capacity
in the governing or service of the Canadian Dental Association over a sustained period of
time, or who has made similar outstanding contributions to the dental profession, the
dental community or the oral health of Canadians and/or society at large.
Presentation to Dr. Anil Joshi
Presented by Dr. Alexander Mutchmor, the Vice President at the time, and currently the
CDA President-Elect.
Dr. Anil Joshi is a pediatric dentist who has given unselfishly to his profession and to his
community. He is a past president of the New Brunswick Dental Society, and was
instrumental in developing the New Brunswick Dental Society’s submission to government
on dental coverage for children of low income families.
He has served the larger community by working with Moncton Headstart in providing both professional and educational
assistance without remuneration. In addition, he has worked with children brought to Canada affected by the Chernobyl
nuclear disaster. He has also travelled extensively internationally to provide pro bono treatment to families in need.
At the CDA level, he has been a strong contributor to CDA’s Working Group on Access to Care for Children and Seniors,
and has been proactive in promoting throughout New Brunswick the importance of good oral health at any age.
In short, he is an exemplary professional who has given willingly and unselfishly of his knowledge and expertise to serve
his profession and his community in ways that can truly make a difference.
