The Mind Creative From 1990’s onwards, the term ‘computer art’ has hardly been used to describe works of art produced with the help of computers. Artists of the modern era use computers as just another tool in their arsenal coupled with traditional techniques. Today, artists no longer depend upon predefined algorithmic images. They have at their disposal, software based tools that has taken realism to an unbelievable level, where it is hard to differentiate between software based works from traditional ones. In fact, there are many creative minds that are now doing work in multi-media which allows computers to shake hands with traditional art techniques. James Faure Walker is one such artist who can be described as both a digital artist and a painter. Since the late 1980's Faure Walker has been integrating computer technology into his practice as a painter, incorporating computer-generated images into his paintings, as well as painterly devices into his digital prints. He moves between the tools of drawing, painting, photography and computer software, blending and exploiting the different characteristics of each. A multi-media work by James Faure Walker 12
