Till 1998, the six main actors were paid $30,000 per episode.
After a pay dispute, from 1998 to 2004, the actors earned
$125,000 per episode. Interestingly, the actors deliberately
skipped several “table reads” in 2004 and demanded $360,000
per episode. After a peaceful resolution, they were paid between
$250,000 to $360,000 per episode up until 2008. The twentieth
season of the series was put on hold in 2008 because of higher
demands from the actors who ended up getting $400,000 per
episode. In 2011, due to financial difficulties at Fox, the actors
agreed to take a “pay cut” and made just over $300,000 per
episode in the show’s 25th season.
Each of these actors have received a Primetime Emmy award for
their performances except Harry Shearer who was nominated for
the award in 2009.
