After having given some money to the Kabuliwallah, I knew that I had to now curtail some of the planned expenses for the festivities of the day. I realised that I could not now afford to have the electric lights that I had intended to hire nor the military band. The ladies of the house were quite despondent about this when I informed them. But to me, the thought that in a distant land a long-lost father will once again meet his only child, made the wedding seem so much more brighter.
