SOUP
Chinese workers came upon some
soup in a tomb in Xian during
excavations for a new airport. The
soup was sealed so tightly in its
bronze cooking pot that it was still in
a liquid state. It had of course turned
green from 2400 years of bronze
oxidation. However, it still contained
some bones that had obviously used
to add flavour to the soup.
NOODLES
The oldest noodles have been
discovered
at
the
Lajja
archaeological site on the Yellow
River in China. This bowl of
ancient millet grass noodles is
supposed to be around 4000 years
old. It was found in an overturned
bowl possibly left behind in the
aftermath
of
an
ancient
earthquake that caused flooding.
