Although, Meucci sued the company, he could not continue the
case due to the lack of funds. Ultimately, he lost his case and died
as a poor Italian migrant who could hardly speak English.
In 2002, a new legislation by the US House of Representatives
declared that original ruling against Meucci to be invalid and the
US Congress found that Meucci had indeed tested a telephone in
1860 and that Bell had had access to his material.
