The Mind Creative March 2014
Dear Friends,
I am an Oscar Wilde fan. I
have been one since I first
read his acclaimed short
story The Happy Prince in
the early seventies. What
has always intrigued me, of
course, is his spectacular
fall from grace.
In this issue, the cover story is about
this very subject and the details
therein. Wilde’s experiment with his
Poems in Prose is also responsible for
igniting my curiosity into the writing
style that is widely known as ProsePoems; and I thought it apt to also
include a short treatise on this
subject. Often, Wilde’s cynical
remarks and quotes have provided me
with that much-needed food for
thought and I would like to specially
mention one that delves into the mind
of a creative personality: “No great
artist ever sees things as they really
are. If he did, he would cease to be
an artist.” These few words, in my
opinion, epitomises not only the soul
of an artist, but also lays bare the soul
of creativity itself.
sections. Driven by my curiosity
about extraordinary personalities
who have been forgotten by the
larger than life tinsel town of
Bollywood, I have started a series
of investigative works under the
title Lost Mavens of Bollywood. The
other new section is Upcoming
Events, a place where I will be
happy to publish details about
events that are worthwhile
mentioning in this e-zine. If you
know any good events coming up,
please feel free to write to me with
relevant details.
Finally, I take great pleasure in
introducing a very gifted young
artist - Angus Fisher. I believe that
this young painter and printmaker
is gifted with an extraordinary eye
for detail and has the necessary
perseverance and diligence that are
the prerequisites to depict all that
his eyes capture. I am sure the
readers will derive a lot of
enjoyment from some of his works
published here
Happy reading!!
