The Mind Creative March 2014 Love’s Fool A dull fire that burns within the deep wallows of your heart, Refusing to cease, unwilling to part. Amber flames rise furtively to scathe your moments of bliss, Smearing your joy, your laughter with something amiss. As you scour ways to soothe your lingering pain, It laughs at your naivety, for your efforts are in vain. Distraught and defeated, you surrender to Love’s evil ways, It has claimed a nook in your heart till the end of your days. A faint heartache is now yours, till death do you part, For only then may Love leave you, to wither another tender heart. Its mission accomplished, it will bid you goodbye, Your questions unanswered, anguish welled in your eyes. Seize that final moment to look Love in the eye, As there you’ll learn why it never left your side. You were born Love’s fool and so shall you die, The universe always knew you needed Love to survive. Say, what is a human heart without love’s sweet fire, Life is but lifeless without love’s sweet desire. Escape to a new womb, adopt a new disguise, But know that Love will find you, for you are special in His Eyes. 42
