The Mind Creative March 2014 Pop art gathered stimulus in America only in the early sixties although there were a few artists there who delved into more “avant-garde” styles in the fifties, that was distinctly different from pop-art. The works of Roy Lichtenstein probably defined the advent of pop art in the United States. He used oil colours and glistening Magna paint to create his famous painting Drowning Girl that depicted the traditional comicstrip techniques with bold colours, thick lines and the use of dots.
