The Mind Creative March 2014 On June 3, 1968, Warhol was shot by a radical feminist writer Valerie Solanasl who, earlier in the day, had been turned away from The Factory after asking for the return of a script she had given to Warhol. Surgeons had to open Warhol’s chest and massage his heart to keep him alive. He suffered physical effects for the rest of his life and had to constantly wear a surgical corset. The shooting had a profound effect on Warhol's life and art. SUPERMAN - Silk Screen Print The seventies were a quiet time for Warhol and he became more of a “commercial” entrepreneur. He took up portrait commissions from wealthy clients like the Shah of Iran amongst others. During these years he also started a magazine called Interview and established the New York Institute of Art. An interesting quote from Warhol appeared in his magazine that said “Being good in business is the most fascinating kind of art. Making money is art and working is art and good business is the best art.” PINK- Painting MICK JAGGER - Colour Offset Poster 15
