The Mind Creative DEC 2013 Stories like these, although made up of a handful of words, can invoke strange thoughts and passions within the reader. The critical factor is, of course, the reader’s imagination, without which these can be reduced to a set of mere sentences. However, although economical in words, these shortest of tales can be haunting, sad, funny and even scary. Some of the world’s shortest stories are a result of a competition started in 1987 called the “55 Fiction” by the American publisher Steve Moss who also published the book “The World’s Shortest Stories”. Here are a few gems from the book. BEDTIME STORY By Jeffrey Whitmore “Careful honey, it’s loaded,” he said re-entering the bedroom.
