Jimi Hendrix
An immortal of rock music
Jimi Hendrix is widely considered as one of the greatest electric
guitarist in the history of rock music. In 1957, Hendrix was
helping his father with a job when he found a ukulele with only
one string in the garbage they were removing. The lady it
belonged to allowed him to keep it. Learning by ear, he played
single notes on it. He then bought an acoustic guitar for $5 and
later an electric guitar, both of which he taught himself to play. In
later year, Hendrix was to be described as “arguably the greatest
instrumentalist in the history of rock music” by the Rock and Roll
Hall of Fame.
He headlined the Woodstock Festival in 1969 and the Isle of Wight
Festival in 1970, before dying from barbiturate related asphyxia
at the age of 27.
