The Mind Creative March 2014
Cézanne is credited to being a “bridge” between the late 19th
century impressionism and the early 20th century’s experiments
into cubism; influencing painters like Matisse and Picasso.
One of the five paintings of The Card Player series was sold in
April 2011 by the Greek shipping magnate George Embiricos to
the Qatar royal family for a sum of approximately $259 million.
The exact price is not known and the estimates range from $259
million to over $300 million; making it the most expensive painting
ever sold.
