The Mind Creative March 2014 CONTRIBUTORS LYNNE KENT is a puppeteer/performer who has toured, trained and worked with various companies including The Victorian Opera, Terrapin Puppet Theatre, Erth Physical Theatre, The Melbourne Women’s Circus, The Australian Centre for the Moving Image and the Queensland Theatre Company. In collaboration with ArtPlay, Lynne has produced works at Federation Square for the 2008 Melbourne Puppet Festival and for the 2009 Castlemaine State Festival. Lynne has received funding for both creative development and professional development to study with the Italian company, Teatro Gioco Vita at the International Institute of Puppet Theatre, Charleville-Mezieres, France. She is currently a PhD candidate in Media Arts conducting research into digital and analogue puppetry techniques and has articles published in Australian Puppeteer and I Pur Si Muove. Her area of expertise lies in presenting innovative shadow theatre in simple, accessible ways and this includes working in tents and up against walls. Twitter: Lynne Kent@lynnequirk SUE WALLACE has been co-artistic director at the Sydney Puppet Theatre since 1984 which has continued to create puppet theatre primarily for the family audience. For 12 years they directed the much loved The Rocks Puppet Cottage in Sydney. In 1998 they created the “One Van” international Festival of Puppetry in Blackheath, NSW and Sue continued as Festival Director for seven festivals. In 2005 Sue was awarded a Churchill Fellowship to study at puppet centres in the USA, Britain, Ireland, France and Japan. She is now the director of ImaginArta (www.imaginarta.com.au) - the Australian Puppet Centre to promote puppetry through performance, workshops, discourse and advocacy. In 2013, Sue was invited to perform her solo show “Nella’s Wings” at five international puppet festivals in Turkey, Indonesia and Mexico. Currently Sue is on the committees for UNIMA Australia and UNIMA’s Lorrie Gardner Scholarship. 4
