Military wives, like most women, have an certain appreciation for the comforts of home. However, with frequent postings, home doesn't have the same meaning for a military wife as it might for a civilian. The hassles of owning a home combined with the inevitable constant moves makes it an easier choice to reside in what are generally called PMQ's.

Now labelled Residential Housing Units, these quaint cookie cutter dwellings may have a new acronym, but they're still stuffed with the standard asbestos attics, mouldy closets and countless layers of lead paint that military families have come to appreciate. With rates comparable to market value, the homes are classic designs with added bonuses such as antique wiring, vintage fixtures and compact storage areas.
