A few hours before our publication deadline, the writer of this story phoned to say she's was unable to complete the article as she is "a little sick" after consuming approximately 16 bottles of wine.

Even though the flooding every spring keep you from using the PMQ basement for storage, you can still put it to good use while being self-sufficient and having fun. Fortunately, Wine Kits are very affordable and most Wine Kits produce 30 – 750 ml bottles of palatable wine. In comparison, buying the minimum 30 bottles of an equivalent quality wine every month would generally be too expensive. Even with start up supplies, it's a much more cost-effective option than buying commercial wines.

In Canada, any household may keep up to 500 liters* at any one time. It's good to know that you can drink it as fast as you can and yet always have 500 liters stored in your cellar at all times.

* 200 gallons = 757,082.36 mL (mL = milliliter)

* 757,082.36 mL divided by 750 (1 average sized bottle of wine) = 1,009.4 (bottles of wine)

* 1,009.4 bottles of wine / 365 = 2.8 bottles per day.

* this would be approximately 30 wine kits per year
