THE CORE : Physical Education
Our concept-based Physical Education curriculum goes beyond traditional PE to develop wellrounded individuals . Our core PE programme fulfils two fundamental key modules : ‘ PHYSICAL ’ and ‘ MENTAL ’ health .
At Sevenoaks we aim to enhance students ' physical literacy and athletic potential while fostering personal growth , critical thinking , and resilience .
Through diverse activities and reflective practices , students gain a deeper understanding of the principles of movement , teamwork , leadership , and lifelong wellness .
OUR MODULES
MENTAL – Through a concept-based curriculum , we make learning relevant to wider life skills , focusing on nurturing personal attributes to enhance wellbeing through physical activity .
l Think – students are encouraged to collaboratively understand and solve tactical problems . l Communicate – students explore different types of communication and leadership styles . l Reflect – students are asked to reflect , set goals and explore resilience . l Independence – students are asked to independently research and encouraged to lead , in addition to using these skills in their wider school life at Sevenoaks .
PHYSICAL – Through the following modules we are looking to enhance long term development through fundamental movement skills and raise athletic potential .
l Athletic Development – enhance students ’ physical literacy and understanding of specific training . l Athletics – develop and refine techniques of Athletic disciplines . l Co-ordination – students discover the principles of co-ordination-based games and are exposed to a variety of activities . l Striking and Fielding – students learn generic techniques that are applicable to a range of sporting disciplines .
