PPMI RNA-Sequencing Project , Largest Data Set in Disease Research , Is Published

MJFF releases the “ Parkinson ’ s Progression Markers Initiative ( PPMI ) RNA-Sequencing Project ,” a massive Foundation-funded RNA sequencing study , the data of which can be used to explore genetic changes in Parkinson ’ s and the impact of genes on factors including age , disease progression and even medication use . The data set , at the time the largest in disease research , is exclusively derived from samples from the Foundation ’ s landmark PPMI study . It contains more than 108 terabytes of sequencing data — equivalent to 47,520,000,000 singlespaced typed pages .
