Wind , was a frequent visitor during her courtship with Redd Upshaw , her first husband . Redd Upshaw was the character basis for Rhett Butler in Gone With The Wind . Mrs . Bertha Upshaw gave the house and property to the clubs of Social Circle in the early 1950 ’ s for use as a clubhouse and community center . The property served as a center of social activity in Social Circle until the late sixties . The property reverted to the Upshaw estate until purchased by Homer Harvey in 1984 to establish the Social Circle Church of God . Louis and Billie Van Dyke purchased the main house and front two acres in 1991 for the Blue Willow Inn Restaurant with the entire tract being purchased in 1996 . The Blue Willow Inn Restaurant features an elegant Southern Buffet with a variety of meats , vegetables , and desserts . The Blue Willow Inn was voted “ Best in the South ” by Southern Living magazine readers in 1996 , 1997 , 1998 , 1999 , and 2000 . Food Network featured it as one of the top 5 “ Bodacious Buffets ” in America .
