Biographies
Thomas Citak, is the Manager of Clinical Engineering at Our Lady of Fatima Hospital in Providence,
RI. He has an AAS Degree in Biomedical Electronics, Phoenix College, Phoenix, AZ. Thomas total
years of field service include 17 years as a biomedical equipment technician and 12 years as Manager for St. Joseph Health Services of RI ―Our Lady of Fatima Hospital‖. He has authored several
articles for the ―24x7‖ and ―TechNation‖ magazines. Tom has really been inspirational by promoting
our profession through his website http://biomedicalpatches.com/ and mentoring high school students in the field of the field of biomedical equipment technology.
Dennis J McMahon, CBET-R, is a biomedical equipment technician with over 40 years experience
with medical technology, primarily in the surgical setting. He became certified as a biomedical technician in 1980, and attended service schools for a variety of clinical technology over the following
three decades.
Dennis has been an instructor at North Seattle Community College since 2002, and is a member of
the Washington State Biomedical Association. He has written or co-authored several articles in
technical publications, one of which won an AAMI award, and contributed to a text on anesthesia
technology. Over the past ten years, he has volunteered for seven missions with Operation Smile.
Dennis retired from full-time employment in 2010, and is now a consultant while continuing to instruct in biomedical technology.
