SELF-AWARENESS : A GIFT FROM GOD
THE PATH TO ENLIGHTENMENT begins with God ’ s acceptance . Once you have been accepted by God onto the spiritual path and have been awarded his love , then he will grant you awareness about your own self .
Every single one of us believes that we are the best . The only difference between us is that some people exhibit this belief while others internalise it .
To believe , ‘ I am the best ,’ is the tune of the Carnal Self . Whether or not you sing it , you mean it .
An important tenet of spiritual ideologies such as Sufism is that when God intends for you to be successful in finding him , he reveals upon you your flaws . If God does not reveal your flaws upon you , then it is a sign that he does not intend to befriend you .
However , God does not reveal upon you your flaws in the beginning of your spiritual journey . Don ’ t expect to have a private conversation with God right away ! This is because your heart is at risk of falling prey to negative influences as long as it is not fully enlightened . An unenlightened heart cannot differentiate between what comes from the devil and what comes from God .
Therefore , the process of self-awareness from God will start when you are spiritually ready to receive revelations from him .
A certain amount of time must pass and progress must be made before you are able to become a recipient of God ’ s revelation . Initially , God will send you revelation that lets you know that he loves you . Then , one day , you will receive divine revelation that makes you realise how flawed you truly are .
When God decides to reveal your flaws upon you , he in fact reveals the flaws in your Carnal Self . You begin to recognise the evil traits in your Carnal Self .
