CONQUER YOURSELF
MOVING ON FROM MISTAKES
Your thoughts have the power to impact your feelings . During the process of selfmortification while progressing in spirituality , you might find yourself dwelling on mistakes you made in the past or other horrible memories . Memories are linked with emotions . Remembering a traumatising experience can trigger the negative emotions you felt at the time . If you relive the past , you ’ ll notice that you ’ ll be happy one minute and deeply disturbed the next . Recognise the fact that the past is past . Some people have the tendency to overthink every situation and dwell on the past . The more you over-analyse the past , the more carried away you get in your thoughts . As a result , those negative thoughts begin to affect your mood . Don ’ t waste your today for your yesterday .
What you have done in the past cannot be compared to your present because you did not have the knowledge then that you might have today .
Convince yourself that you cannot change the past , however , you hold the power to change your future and that is what is important . With this perception , you will find it easier to shake off negative thoughts .
Remember that forgiveness is a divine attribute . [ 1 JOHN 1:19 ; COLOSSIANS 3:13 ] God is forgiving and he loves those who forgive .
Learn to forgive yourself and others ; do not persecute people for their past and do not allow your past to haunt you !
DEALING WITH FAILURE
Failure can be hard and the inability to cope with it can be crippling . It can profoundly affect your self-confidence and overall emotional state . If you ’ re not careful , you may find yourself suffering from an inferiority complex .
Success is achievable for anyone , as long as they are determined . Determination is the not-so-secret secret to overcoming failure . Be determined no matter what happens !
If you treat every failure as a learning experience that will help mold you into a better person - and you never give up - you will achieve your goal .
When you fail , it helps to examine your steps . Determine :
• How should it have been done ?
• How did you do it ?
• What mistakes did you make ?
• How can you avoid making those mistakes in the future ?
